SC Villa goalkeeper David Lukwago has been declared fit to face Blacks Power in the Uganda Premier League today.
Lukwago was forced off in the 70th minute of Villa’s previous match against Mbarara City after sustaining an injury. He was replaced by Hassan Matovu as the Jogoos secured a 2-0 victory.
The goalkeeper had earlier been hurt in a collision with Mbarara City striker Ivan Bogere at the start of the second half. Although he initially played on, he later went down and was unable to continue.
Lukwago has since resumed training with the team and is expected to start in goal as Villa target back-to-back victories.
The goalkeeper enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with Villa last season, which was also his first in the top flight. His performances earned him a recent call-up to the Uganda Cranes squad for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers and friendly matches against DR Congo.
Villa have reported no other injury concerns ahead of the encounter and will be confident of securing maximum points.

However, they had to work hard to overcome Mbarara City, with Frank Ssebuufu and Najib Yiga scoring at Wankulukuku.
“We played very poorly, but we won the game. We need to improve for this game because Blacks Power are a very good team, and this is going to be a tough encounter,” said Villa coach Zeljko Kovacevic.
A victory would take Villa to the top of the table. The Jogoos are currently second with 17 points from seven matches, two behind leaders BUL FC.
Blacks Power sit fifth with 12 points and head into the contest after a 3-2 victory over URA FC. However, they lost Ivan Okello to a broken leg during that encounter.
Villa dominated their previous meetings with Blacks Power in the 2022/23 season, winning both fixtures 1-0. Charles Bbaale scored the decisive goal in their last meeting at Wankulukuku.
