FUFA Orders KCCA Vs UPDF Match to Resume

The FUFA Disciplinary Panel has ordered KCCA FC and UPDF FC to resume their abandoned Uganda Premier League match from the point at which it was stopped.

In a decision announced on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the panel ruled that Match No. 61 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League should be rescheduled as a continuation-of-play match.

“The FUFA Disciplinary Panel has ordered that Match No. 61 of the SUPL, KCCA FC vs UPDF FC, be rescheduled as a continuation-of-play match from the minute at which it was abandoned,” FUFA stated.

The match was abandoned on October 22 at Omondi Stadium in Lugogo after a power outage affected the floodlights just seven minutes after kick-off.

KCCA have also been ordered to reimburse UPDF for the costs incurred in connection with the abandoned match.

“KCCA FC shall reimburse UPDF FC for the costs incurred in connection with the abandoned match,” the statement added.

The Lugogo-based side was further fined Shs1 million in accordance with the panel’s decision.

The ruling follows the incident that prompted FUFA to revoke Omondi Stadium’s approval to host night matches with immediate effect.

In a letter dated October 24, FUFA Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ampaire Sheba Ronah said the stadium no longer met the conditions under which it had been approved to host matches under floodlights.

The approval will only be restored after corrective measures are implemented, a fresh inspection is conducted and written clearance is issued by FUFA.

Meanwhile, all matches scheduled to be played under floodlights at Lugogo have been moved to 4 p.m. until the necessary requirements are met.

KCCA have been directed to liaise with the Uganda Premier League Secretariat regarding the affected fixtures.
