KCCA FC fought back to claim maximum points with a 2-1 victory over Lugazi in a Uganda Premier League match at Lugogo on Wednesday.

The match appeared destined for a draw after KCCA striker Charles Lwanga cancelled out Cromwell Rwothomio’s opener for the visitors.

However, Sammy Ssebaduka struck a late winner in added time to spark wild celebrations.

Lugazi took the lead in the 55th minute when Rwothomio headed home from Frank Mulimi’s corner.

Lwanga, who replaced Emmanuel Anyama in the 63rd minute, restored parity three minutes later with a header from Ibrahim Kasule’s corner.

Ssebaduka then sealed the victory in added time, connecting with a fine cross from Shafic Nana Kwikiriza before directing his header into the top corner.

The victory provided a timely response from KCCA following their abandoned match against UPDF FC, which was halted due to floodlight failure.

FUFA subsequently revoked the club’s approval to host night matches, forcing the fixture against Lugazi, which had initially been scheduled for the evening, to be rescheduled.

The result lifts KCCA to fifth place with 13 points from seven matches.

Lugazi, meanwhile, suffered their fourth defeat of the season and remain 13th with eight points.
