SC Villa miss chance to go top

SC Villa missed the chance to move top of the Uganda Premier League after being held to a frustrating goalless draw by Blacks Power at Wankulukuku on Tuesday.

The Jogoos will rue their missed opportunities in a game they could have won comfortably.

Patrick Jonah Kakande wasted the best chance of the match in the 66th minute, tapping Andrew Okumu’s cross over the bar from close range.

Kakande had earlier set up Ibrahim Kasinde, who failed to beat goalkeeper Emmanuel Odongo.

Frank Ssebuufu also headed over from John Assiimwe’s free kick before failing to hit the target from Tony Asiku’s delivery.

Blacks Power’s best chance came around the hour mark when substitute Elius Paul Emokori beat David Lukwago but failed to score from a tight angle.

The draw leaves SC Villa second on 18 points, one behind leaders BUL FC, having missed the opportunity to go top with a win.

It was Villa’s third draw of the season, following earlier stalemates against Kitara and Kataka. However, the Jogoos remain unbeaten after eight matches.

Blacks Power, meanwhile, moved to fifth on 13 points. The draw was their first of the campaign after recording four wins and three defeats.
