FUFA Big League side Mbale Heroes FC have confirmed that their ability to complete the remainder of the season is under serious threat due to a worsening financial crisis at the club.
In a statement issued by the club’s acting CEO Godfrey Kakungulu, Mbale Heroes revealed that they may be forced to withdraw from the league if urgent financial support is not secured.
The Club is calling on “Good Samaritans” and partners to step in immediately to rescue the situation.
The club has already been hit by setbacks on the pitch, having forfeited their fixture against Kigezi Homeboyz after failing to make the trip to Kabale.
Under FUFA Competitions Rules, any club that fails to honour two matches without a valid reason faces immediate removal from the league.
In a notice addressed to stakeholders, partners, and well-wishers, Kakungulu warned that the club’s participation in the league is now at stake.
He noted that Mbale Heroes are currently struggling to raise funds needed to honour their remaining five fixtures in the FUFA Big League, adding that without immediate intervention, the club will have no option but to notify the FUFA Competitions Committee of their withdrawal.

The statement says that the situation is “critical” and would undermine the efforts of players, technical staff, and supporters who have stood by the team throughout a difficult season.
The club has set this Friday, May 1, 2026 as the deadline to secure emergency funding in order to meet upcoming match obligations and administrative requirements.
Mbale Heroes are next scheduled to face Nebbi Central in an away fixture on Sunday, May 3.
The club, which was relegated from the top flight last season, is also serving a transfer ban imposed by FUFA after failing to clear arrears linked to former head coach Asaph Mwebaze.

On the sporting front, Mbale Heroes sit bottom of the table with 20 points, eight points adrift of safety with only five matches remaining in the season.
