Uganda will continue their quest for medals at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Monday, with athletes competing across five disciplines.
In athletics, David Beckham Otim will compete in the men’s long jump at 1:50pm.
World champion Halimah Nakaayi, who won the women’s 800m gold at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, will begin her campaign in the 800m heats at 9:15pm.
Uganda will also have a strong presence in the women’s 10,000m final, with Joy Cheptoyek, Rebecca Chelangat, and Esther Chebet all chasing podium finishes. The race is scheduled for 10:05pm.
In boxing, Alfred Ojok returns to the ring in the light heavyweight Round of 16, where he will face England’s Dimeju Shittu. Ojok booked his place in this stage after defeating Niue’s Anitelea Launiu on Saturday.
Uganda’s swimmers will also be in action. Tendo Kawumi and Tendo Mukalazi compete in the men’s 100m freestyle at 1:20pm.
Tara Naluwoza will race in the women’s 50m backstroke at 12:59pm, Kirabo Namutebi takes on the women’s 50m breaststroke at 1:34pm, while Husnah Kukundakwe competes in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB8 at 1:53pm.
In netball, the She Cranes face Jamaica at 9:00pm in one of the day’s headline fixtures as Uganda looks to continue its impressive campaign.
