FUFA Big League 2026/27: Kickoff dates, fixture release, and teams

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed the kickoff dates for the 2026/27 Big League season.

The second tier of Uganda’s football league system will get underway on September 20, 2026. Fixtures for the new season will be released on August 24, 2026.

The 2025/26 campaign concluded on June 6, with Blacks Power crowned champions. The Lira-based side earned promotion to the Uganda Premier League alongside Ntugasaze, Kataka, and Kigezi HomeBoyz.

Four sides were relegated from the second tier, including Wakiso Giants. Mbale Heroes, Bright Stars, and Nebbi Central are the other teams that dropped down.

From the Regional Leagues, Buwambo United, Amus, Mutolere, and Pakwach Young Stars secured promotion to the Big League.

Eight teams that finished between 5th and 12th place last season and will be vying for promotion this time are Paidha Black Angels, Bunyaruguru United, Kiyinda Boys, Young Elephant, Iganga United, CATDA, Kaaro Karungi, and Onduparaka.

These will be joined by Calvary FC and Buhimba United Saints that were relegated from Uganda Premier League.

The participating clubs will be confirmed after completing the FUFA licensing process.

For the 2026/27 season, FUFA Big League clubs will be required to either own women’s teams or have formal partnership agreements with teams competing in the FUFA Women Super League, FUFA Women Elite League, or the FUFA Regional Leagues.

Additionally, both the head coach and assistant coach must hold at least a CAF B Diploma license.
