JT Lady Jaguars overcame Miracle Eaglets 66-60 in a National Basketball League game played on Sunday at ABJA Park in Naalya.

The Lady Jaguars were not expected to face many difficulties, considering Miracle Eaglets’ struggles this season and the fact that JT had won the first-round meeting 77-35.

However, Miracle made a strong start, taking a 24-19 lead after the opening quarter before extending it to 35-32 at halftime.

Arnold Katabi’s side was then limited to just six points in the third quarter, allowing JT to open up an 11-point advantage before holding on in the final period to seal a six-point victory.

Maimuna Nabbosa led the Lady Jaguars with 15 points, while Annet Among and Shakirah Nanvubya added 12 and 11 points respectively. Sandra Ayikoru and Priscillar Nambogo chipped in with 10 points each.

For Miracle Eaglets, Lina Koul Khor registered nine points and 13 rebounds, while Akello Winfred (15), Caroline Nakato (14) and Prosper Anyine (10) all scored in double figures, though their efforts were not enough.

Miracle Eaglets were hurt by 23 turnovers and were narrowly outrebounded 56-53.

Despite the defeat, coach Arnold Katabi will take pride in his team’s performance, especially after pushing the league leaders all the way.

JT Lady Jaguars have now won back-to-back games, having defeated KCCA Leopards on Wednesday after suffering a narrow 47-46 loss to Magic Stormers.
