Mulamba rushed to hospital after collision in BUL defeat

Friday, April 24
•UPDF FC 0-0 URA FC
•Express 0-2 BUL FC
•NEC FC 1-0 Mbarara City

Express FC midfielder Blanchar Mulamba was rushed to hospital after a collision during their Uganda Premier League match against BUL FC on Friday at Nakivubo Stadium.

Mulamba suffered a concussion after colliding with BUL FC player Hillary Onek in the 37th minute.

The incident left both players on the ground requiring medical attention, but Mulamba had to be whisked away immediately after his condition failed to improve.

It is the second consecutive Express FC match at Nakivubo involving a player needing further medical attention, following the ugly incident involving Richard Basangwa earlier this week in a goalless draw.

However, unlike the Basangwa incident, this time the ambulance was functional, sparing Express further criticism and scrutiny.

Pascal Ngobi and Innocent Rwothomio scored one goal each in the second half as BUL secured maximum points with a 2-0 victory.

The defeat ended Express FC’s four-game unbeaten run, which included three straight wins before the 0-0 draw against NEC FC.

BUL return to winning ways after a difficult spell highlighted by a recent 5-2 home defeat to UPDF FC in Njeru.

Alex Isabirye’s side remain eighth on the table with 34 points, while Express sit 10th on the 16-team log with 30 points after 25 matches.

Up next – Express will visit Mbarara City on April 28 at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge, while BUL will host NEC FC on the same day at Njeru.
