The Cricket Cranes moved into a commanding 2-0 lead in their eight-match white-ball tour of India after defeating MCA Colts XI by 33 runs in the second 50-over match played at PDTSA Oval in Palghar on Wednesday.
Uganda posted 299/9 in 50 overs, inspired by a brilliant century from Simon Ssesazi, who scored 124 off 134 balls with 10 fours and four sixes.
Dinesh Nakrani added a quickfire 50 off 38 balls while Gerald Olipa chipped in with 33 runs. Captain Fred Achelam provided late momentum with an unbeaten 22 off 12 deliveries.
MCA Colts XI fought back through Aadit Degaonkar’s 84 off 85 balls, while Tanish Shetty scored 40 and Kaushik Chikhlikar added 36. However, Uganda’s bowlers held firm to dismiss the hosts for 266 in 48.5 overs.
Juma Miyaji starred with the ball for Uganda, claiming 4/42, while Cosmas Kyewuta picked up 3/43. Henry Ssenyondo also contributed with two wickets.
Uganda head coach Steve Tikolo praised the team’s attitude despite a few dropped catches and costly boundaries.
“We gave away too many boundaries at times but the attitude was excellent. Three strong partnerships with the bat got us to 299,” Tikolo said after the match.
Captain Fred Achelam also lauded the team’s mentality and energy throughout the contest.
“The energy and attitude were outstanding. Simon and Raghav were fantastic at the top while the bowlers kept believing even when the game became tight,” Achelam noted.
Ssesazi was named Player of the Match for his century, which anchored Uganda’s innings.
