Katogo Golf Series Returns With Champions League Final Experience

The I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series returns to Entebbe Club this Saturday, May 30, for its second quarterly event and third outing of the 2026 season.

The event comes just weeks after the series hosted the cross-border ‘Migingo Skirmishes’ at the same venue, where the Ugandan side defeated a visiting Kenyan team dominated by Limuru Country Club golfers.

Team Katogo secured a 16.5 to 11.5 victory to win the return leg of the rivalry.

This weekend’s edition will carry a football-themed atmosphere, coinciding with the UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and defending champions PSG.

Organisers have confirmed the final will be screened live at the 19th hole experience on a giant LED screen.

“As sports enthusiasts, we enjoy more than just golf. That’s why we saw it fitting to offer golfers a Champions League finale experience within our usual fun-filled 19th hole experience,” said I&M Bank Marketing and Corporate Communications Head Annette Nakiyaga.

“We don’t want golfers to endure the inconvenience of rushing elsewhere to catch the match. We shall screen the game on a giant LED screen at the comfort of the 19th hole. I want to reassure all golfers that this Saturday’s experience is going to be one for the books,” she added.

The football-themed evening will feature a jersey dress code, performances from Janzi Band, a lineup of DJs, and will be hosted by comedian Patrick Idringi, popularly known as Salvador.

On the course, golfers will compete in the ‘Call Your Shots’ format, where players must declare the clubs they intend to use on each hole before teeing off. Only the selected clubs may be used, and each club must be used at least once during the round.

Participants will also compete for a hole-in-one prize, an Outlander Sport (X-Force), courtesy of Victoria Motors and insured by GA Insurance.

No golfer has won the hole-in-one prize in the series so far. During the season opener, Entebbe golfer Morris Ongwech aced hole 16 but missed out on the prize, which had been designated for hole 10.

Organisers expect another fully subscribed field and a vibrant 19th hole turnout, continuing the growing popularity of the series.

The I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series is sponsored by Johnnie Walker, Victoria Motors, GA Insurance, RwandAir, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Kampala Serena Hotel, Fenon Events, Goldman’s Luxury, NBS Sport, Case Hospital and Time Cop Security.
