At the second edition of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series, held Saturday, May 30 at Entebbe Club, the traditional 19th hole experience took a different direction, with football and entertainment sharing centre stage with golf.
Instead of the usual format of dinner, speeches, prize giving and departure, attention quickly shifted to a giant screen positioned behind the podium. Guests gathered to watch the UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and PSG, many dressed in football jerseys, with Arsenal colours dominating the crowd.
DStv partnered with organisers to stream the match live, turning the 19th hole into a hybrid viewing and social experience that mixed golf, football and music.
As the match unfolded, the atmosphere shifted with every key moment, building towards a split reaction at full time. Arsenal supporters, who formed the majority, were left disappointed, while PSG fans celebrated loudly.
Katogo and Entebbe Club captains Elly Mukasa and Serwano Walusimbi were among those visibly engaged throughout the evening.

Event host Patrick Idringi Salvador, an Arsenal supporter, was among those affected by the result. He said:
“I personally witnessed this spirit earlier in May when we hosted our brothers and sisters in golf from Kenya for the second leg of the Migingo Skirmishes. What stood out most was not just the competition on the course, but the friendships, conversations, and laughter shared throughout the event,”
He added:
“We remain committed to creating experiences that reflect both the lifestyles and passion points that matter to our clients and the communities we serve. With the continued support of all stakeholders, we believe we will continue delivering even more exciting experiences ahead,”
Music was integrated into the setup through DJ Shock, who ran a silent disco format that allowed guests to follow both the match and entertainment at the same time.

Speaking on behalf of CEO Robin Bairstow, I&M Bank Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer Sam Ntulume said the concept demonstrated the unifying power of sport.
He said sport continues to connect people beyond competition, citing earlier engagements with visiting golfers from Kenya during the Migingo Skirmishes event, where off-course interaction was as significant as play.
Ntulume also highlighted benefits available to I&M Bank Mastercard holders, including up to 30% discounts on green fees and guest access at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa and other international courses under the Mastercard Golf Program.
On the course, Conrads Ahimbisibwe, making his Katogo debut, won the overall men’s title with 68 nett, while Peace Hellen claimed the women’s overall title with 66 nett. Winners were rewarded with prizes including RwandAir tickets and accommodation at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel.

Joel Nagaba won the Men’s Gross category, while Peace Kabasweka took the Ladies’ Gross title.
Category winners included Dennis Kawalya (Men Group A), Patrick M. Mugisha (Men Group B), Stephen Adrapi (Men Group C), Julia Nampeewo (Ladies Group A), and Sheilla Nduhukire (Ladies Group B).
The Johnnie Walker quiz was won by Mathias Zungu, Sarah Nduhukire, Bryan Walusimbi, Anthony Agaba and Hellen Kisinde.
Side bet winners included Chris Jaramogi (Piga Mingi), Pamela Tumusiime (Nearest to the Pin Ladies), Rino Kitimbo (Nearest to the Pin Men), Esther Aganyira (Longest Drive Ladies) and Ivan Arinaitwe (Longest Drive Men).

Looking ahead, I&M Bank Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Annette Nakiyaga said plans are underway for a cross-border leg in South Africa in September.
She said the series is designed to deliver lifestyle-driven sporting experiences aligned to clients’ interests, with further expansion expected in future editions.
The 2026 I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series returns on August 8 for its second leg, supported by Johnnie Walker, Victoria Motors, GA Insurance, RwandAir, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Kampala Serena Hotel, Fenon Events, Goldman’s Luxury, NBS Sport, Case Hospital and Time Cop Security.
