Uganda defeated Kenya to win the return leg of the Migingo Skirmishes, held on May 2 at Entebbe Club as part of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series.
A total of 170 amateur golfers took part in the cross-border event, including 69 from Kenya representing clubs such as Railway, Sigona, Karen, and Royal Nairobi.
The main match play contest saw Uganda secure victory with 16.5 points against Kenya’s 11.5. Kenya had entered the event as defending champions after winning the inaugural edition in 2024 at Limuru Country Club, but the hosts reclaimed the title on home soil.
Katogo Captain Elly Mukasa credited the win to consistency and better course management.

He said the team stayed steady and picked up points where it mattered, adding that performance on the day made the difference.
Mukasa also stressed that the event goes beyond competition, noting that the Katogo series focuses on building friendships alongside the sport.
Kenya’s delegation leader for the inaugural event, James Githinji, praised the experience and reaffirmed their commitment to the tournament.

He said the strong turnout from multiple Kenyan clubs reflected the importance of the event and expressed hope of strengthening the partnership going forward.
I&M Bank Regional CEO Kihara Maina said the tournament continues to create value beyond golf by fostering relationships, partnerships, and business opportunities across East Africa.

He added that the bank remains focused on regional integration, highlighting its BRISK banking solution, which allows customers to access services seamlessly across branches in different countries.
I&M Bank Uganda CEO Robin Bairstow said the Migingo Skirmishes have grown into a key feature of the Katogo series, evolving from a single invitation event in 2024 into a regional competition.

He revealed that after previous outings in Kenya and Rwanda, the next cross-border leg will be held in South Africa later this year.
In the subsidiary stableford competition, Peace Kabasweka won Ladies Group A with 36 points, while Esther Aganyira topped Group B with 35 points.
Twinemanzi Tumubweine won Men’s Group A with 35 points, Andrew Koech of Kenya claimed Men’s Group B with 41 points, and Mark Nahabwe led Group C with 44 points.
I&M Bank Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Annette Nakiyaga said the 2026 series marks a turning point, with increased regional participation and more cross-border events planned.
She said the organizers are focused on expanding the series beyond Uganda to strengthen the regional golfing community.
The event concluded with a 19th hole experience hosted by comedian Patrick Idringi, also known as Salvador, featuring entertainment that included Kenyan music in tribute to the visiting team.
