Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will discover their opponents for the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup when the tournament draw is conducted on July 10 in Kigali, Rwanda.
The regional club championship will run from July 24 to August 7 in the Rwandan capital, with 12 teams competing for the title.
The draw will be held at the Amahoro National Stadium press conference room starting at 10:00am local time. Former Rwanda international Haruna Niyonzima will assist with the draw.
Vipers will hope to use the tournament to fine tune for the CAF Champions League preliminaries.
The Venoms who recently appointed Frenchman Denis Lavagne as the new coach, has unveiled Nicholas Mwere, Joel Sserunjogi and Congolese defender Jacques Mangoba.
According to CECAFA Competitions Manager Yusuf Mossi, the 12 teams will be divided into three groups of four.
The winner of each group, together with the best second-placed team, will advance to the semi-finals.
Mossi said the tournament will also provide clubs with valuable preparation ahead of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, which begin in September.
CECAFA has also confirmed Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars as the 12th and final participant. Singida are the defending champions after beating Sudan’s Al Hilal in last year’s final in Dar es Salaam, while APR finished third.
The teams in the draw are hosts APR and Rayon Sports (Rwanda), Simba SC and Singida Black Stars (Tanzania), Vipers SC (Uganda), Al Hilal SC and Al Merrikh SC (Sudan), Gor Mahia FC (Kenya), Mogadishu City FC (Somalia), Jamus SC (South Sudan), FC Garde Républicaine (Djibouti) and KVZ FC (Zanzibar).
