The Uganda Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) has announced the schools that will host the 2027 National Championships following a competitive bidding process.
USSSA President Justus Mugisha announced the selected schools in Kampala on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
St. Kagwa High School in Bushenyi and Bweranyangi Girls Secondary School will host National Ball Games I and Athletics for the first time.
Kabalega Secondary School in Masindi will host the National Football Boys Championship, returning to hosting duties after 12 years.
Nyakasura School, alongside co-host Kyebambe, will host National Ball Games II, while Janan Secondary School in Bombo and Standard High School, Zzana, Ndejje Campus, will host the Elite Games.
Seroma Christian High School in Mukono has been selected to host the Swimming Championship.
USSSA also named standby hosts for three competitions in case the main hosts fail to meet the required standards. They are Seroma Christian High School for National Ball Games I, Mbarara High School for the football championship, and St. Mary’s College Rushoroza for National Ball Games II.
Mugisha said the selection process considered regional rotation, availability of sports and accommodation facilities, the quality of bids and the expected benefits to schools and host communities.
Final inspections will be conducted in January 2027. Schools that fail to meet the required standards will lose their hosting rights to the designated standby institutions.
The requirements include proper playing fields, adequate accommodation, security, medical services and emergency preparedness.
Mugisha urged the selected schools to prepare adequately and fulfil their commitments ahead of the championships.
