KCCA FC will be targeting their fifth consecutive victory when they take on Mbarara City FC in the Uganda Premier League at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge on Saturday.
The Kasasiro Boys travel west on the back of four successive wins, having beaten Lugazi FC (2-1), Ntugasaze FC (2-0), URA FC (1-0) and Kataka FC (1-0).
Brian Ssenyondo’s side have also been defensively solid, conceding just once in their last five matches.
However, they face a confident Mbarara City side that stunned Vipers SC 1-0 in midweek despite finishing the match with 10 players.
The Ankole Lions have won two, drawn two and lost three of their opening seven matches. They are also unbeaten in four home games this season, recording two wins and two draws.
Saturday’s encounter will also see Ssenyondo face his former employers, having previously coached Mbarara City.
The KCCA tactician expects a difficult test, acknowledging the hosts’ strength on home soil but insisting his team will remain focused on their approach.
“Mbarara City at home is always a different team, and their recent win against Vipers tells you everything about their fighting spirit. I know how much pride that club plays with, especially in front of their fans. They are organised and hard to break down,” Ssenyondo said.
“But we are KCCA. We are going there to play with the discipline we have shown all season and execute our game plan with focus.”
KCCA also enjoy a superior head-to-head record, winning nine of the 18 previous meetings between the sides. Mbarara have won three, while six encounters have ended in draws.
