Allan Ssemakula Joins Cricket Uganda Executive Board

Allan Ssemakula has been elected as the inaugural Central Region Director on the Cricket Uganda Executive Board following the adoption of the federation’s new constitution.

Ssemakula, who represents Luweero District, was elected during Cricket Uganda’s Special General Meeting (SGM) at the Uganda Olympic Committee offices in Lugogo as the federation aligned its governance structure with the National Sports Act.

His election marks another milestone in a cricket journey spanning more than two decades.

Ssemakula started playing cricket at Ndejje Secondary School, representing the school team from Senior Three before captaining it in Senior Six in 2009.

At club level, he has featured for Castle Development, Africa Cricket Club (ACC), Avengers, Kampala Pirates, Budo Cricket Club and currently captains Centurions Cricket Club. He also previously captained Budo Cricket Club.

Away from the field, Ssemakula has been actively involved in cricket administration. He serves on Cricket Uganda’s Marketing Committee, has held the position of Liaison Officer on three occasions and was assistant head of the Local Organising Committee for the Pearl of Africa Cricket Tournament.

His election to the Executive Board was unanimous, underlining the confidence the cricket fraternity has in his leadership and vision for the game.

As Central Region Director, Ssemakula will provide strategic oversight for cricket development in the region, with a focus on grassroots growth, player welfare, transparency and strengthening governance under the federation’s new regional structure.

Speaking after his election, Ssemakula said he views the role as an opportunity to build a stronger and more inclusive future for cricket by ensuring every stakeholder has a voice in shaping the sport.

He also pledged to work closely with fellow board members, clubs, players and partners to grow the game while remaining guided by the values of service, accountability and passion that have defined his cricket journey.

Ssemakula was elected alongside Marjorie Nankinga, who will represent the Western Region, becoming the first regional directors to join the Cricket Uganda Executive Board under the federation’s newly adopted constitution.
