NEC FC has confirmed the return of forward Richard Basangwa ahead of their Uganda Premier League clash against BUL FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
Basangwa has been out since a frightening incident during NEC’s league match against Express FC at Nakivubo last Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the closing stages of the game when Basangwa required urgent medical attention following a collision with Express defender Glory Kisule in the 90th minute.
He was struck by an elbow to the neck during an aerial challenge and reportedly lost consciousness on the pitch.
With no functional ambulance at the stadium, Basangwa was rushed to Case Hospital in a Land Cruiser.
The forward returned to training on Sunday.

“Basangwa is okay, he has been tested and will be part of the team we are travelling with,” NEC FC head coach Badru Kaddu said on Monday.
•Express risk sanction over Basangwa incident
Basangwa missed the club’s previous league game against Mbarara City, where goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo scored the winner from a rebound after his initial penalty was saved.
However, Emmanuel Ajo and Gideon Odongo remain sidelined with injuries and will miss the trip to Njeru.
Since their 2-1 defeat to KCCA, NEC FC have gone unbeaten in their last 15 league matches, a run that will face a major test on Tuesday.
BUL FC head into the fixture full of confidence after a 2-0 win over Express FC at Nakivubo in their most recent outing.
However, they will be without Karim Ndugwa, Walter Ochora, and Ibrahim Orit.
“We are going to make some changes because you all know we have taken long without getting a win against NEC FC. My players are ready. I know the game will not be easy, but we will make sure that we get the needed result,” said BUL FC coach Alex Isabirye.
BUL, however, lost 5-2 to UPDF FC in their last home game at Njeru, with goals from Denis Ssewagudde and Hillary Onek proving not enough.
