City Oilers returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 59-53 victory over JT Jaguars in the National Basketball League on Sunday at Lugogo.

The Oilers had to come from behind after trailing 17-12 at the end of the opening quarter.

They looked to have pulled away in the second quarter, but JT Jaguars dug deep in the fourth to tie the game twice before the Oilers closed it out with an 8-0 run.

Joel Kayiira and Fayed Bbale scored 19 and 13 points respectively for the Oilers, while Titus Lual added six points and 15 rebounds.

New signing Jonathan Komagum who had a difficult night against Nam Blazers, scored 4 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.

Peter Sifuma posted 16 points and 22 rebounds in defeat for JT Jaguars, while Victor Bwana contributed 11 points.

Both teams struggled from three-point range, with the Oilers missing 23 of their 26 attempts, while JT Jaguars missed 21 of 24.

However, the Oilers edged the rebounding battle 55-48 and got 31 points from their bench.

The victory was much needed for the Oilers, who had suffered a 76-50 defeat to Nam Blazers on Friday.

Coached by Andrew Tendo, City Oilers have now won 17 of their 19 games this season, with fixtures against JKL, UPDF and Sommet still to come.

For JT Jaguars, it was the 11th defeat in 18 games in what has been a difficult campaign for consistency and rhythm.
