Express seek to bounce back

Express FC will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to UPDF FC when they visit Lugazi FC in the Uganda Premier League at Najjembe on Wednesday.

The Red Eagles suffered a 2-1 loss to UPDF at Nakivubo, where Derrick Taremwa scored a quick brace before Henry Wamala pulled one back late in the game.

It was Express’ third defeat of the season, with their only victory coming against KCCA FC in a 2-0 win. They have collected five points from five matches, leaving them 14th in the table, just above the relegation zone, despite entering the campaign with high expectations.

Coach Morley Byekwaso will welcome back Shafic Batambuze, who missed the previous two matches. In his absence, Duncan Sseninde has been deployed at left-back.

Agrrey Atandu also returns to the squad, while Derrick Ddungu Rickman, Douglas Rwotngeyo, Vincent Adriko and Richard Tumusiime remain sidelined.

Lugazi, meanwhile, sit 11th with seven points and head into the encounter following a hard-fought goalless draw against BUL FC. They have now gone three consecutive league matches without scoring and will be hoping to end that drought against Express.
