Express FC goalkeeper Emmanuel Kalyowa has been found guilty of match manipulation but is free to resume football immediately after FUFA suspended the remainder of his ban.
The FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee’s Adjudicatory Chamber found Kalyowa guilty of violating Article 43 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code over the manipulation of the Uganda Premier League match between Kitara FC and Express FC played on December 21, 2024.
Kalyowa admitted his involvement during an oral hearing held at FUFA House on September 3, 2026.
The committee, however, noted that Kalyowa was not the instigator of the manipulation. It found that he was instructed to participate by people in positions of authority at Express FC, who exploited his financial vulnerability and personal circumstances at the time.
FUFA initially imposed a one-year ban from all football-related activities. However, Kalyowa had already served six months and 13 days under a provisional suspension imposed on March 12, 2026.
This left five months and 15 days of the ban, but the committee has suspended that remaining period for one year from September 25, 2026.
Kalyowa is therefore eligible to participate in football-related activities immediately, provided he does not commit another match-manipulation offence during the suspension period.
