Guinness has cancelled its planned Premier League Trophy Tour of Uganda, which was scheduled to run from October 11 to 13, 2026.
The announcement was made on Saturday by Uganda Breweries Limited and the Guinness Brand Team, disappointing fans who had anticipated an opportunity to experience the iconic trophy during the three-day tour.
“Despite our efforts, we have not been able to deliver it as planned, and it will unfortunately not be taking place as scheduled,” the organisers said in a statement, apologising to fans, partners and stakeholders across the country.
However, the cancellation will not affect the planned Guinness Matchday viewing events, with the brand confirming that all watch parties will proceed as scheduled.
Football fans will gather at UICT Grounds in Nakawa on Sunday, October 11, for a live screening of the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Liverpool.
The event will feature giant screens, live music and performances from local artists, with Khalifa Aganaga and Lil Pazo headlining the entertainment lineup.
Fans will also have a chance to win VIP live-viewing tickets to Premier League matches, with each winner entitled to bring a guest.
The celebrations will continue on Monday, October 12, at The Villa in Bukoto, where Coventry City face Newcastle United in the featured fixture. Fans will enjoy live football, entertainment and discounted Guinness bottle offers.
Despite the setback involving the trophy tour, Guinness says it remains committed to Ugandan football fans through its Guinness Matchday and Guinness Matchday on Tour experiences, which bring supporters together to watch some of the Premier League’s biggest fixtures.
The activations form part of the brand’s Lovely Day for a Guinness campaign, with We Are Extra serving as its football-themed expression.
