The I&M Bank Serena 63 Golf Series heads back to Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa this Saturday, October 3, for the second quarterly tournament of the 2026 season, with participation numbers on the rise.
A total of 139 golfers have registered for the series, marking an increase from the 94 participants who took part in the previous quarter.
Henry Kibuuka currently leads the season standings with 178 points, following a strong first quarter. He is closely followed by Dr. Sebaale Kato, who topped the standings in the opening quarter, with 160 points, while Hon. John Byabagambi occupies third position on 138 points.
Former series champion Dave Plendeleith is tied in fourth place with Elijah Luutu, who recently won the Seniors Open at the Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship.
Saturday’s competition will feature both Serena 63 members and non-members, with golfers battling for prizes in various categories. The tournament will be played in a four-ball format, with organisers confirming that the draw is full ahead of the event.
Beyond the competition, participants will enjoy an awards ceremony and dinner, capped by a Monaco-themed 19th Hole Experience, where guests will be treated to an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.
The tournament comes amid continued improvements at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, which recently unveiled Hole 3 and completed upgrades to its deck as part of efforts to enhance the overall golfing experience.
The resort’s Golf Director, Theo Van Rooyen, says golfers can expect an improved experience when they return to the course.
“The place is fantastic and we have continued to invest in making the experience even better for our golfers. With the launch of Hole 3 and the upgraded deck, there is a lot for golfers to look forward to. They should expect the very best throughout the day,” Van Rooyen said.
I&M Bank Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Annette Nakiyaga has also welcomed the growing numbers, describing the increased participation as a reflection of the series’ expanding appeal.
“We are delighted by the response to the I&M Bank Serena 63 Golf Series and the continued growth in participation. Seeing more golfers join the series and compete consistently speaks to the excitement the tournament has generated.
“We are proud to be part of a platform that brings golfers together and creates memorable experiences beyond the game,” Nakiyaga said.
