JKL Lady Dolphins’ poor run in the National Basketball League continued on Sunday with a 65-48 defeat to Magic Stormers at ABJA Park in Naalya.
The Lady Dolphins endured a nightmare start, managing just four points in the opening quarter as they fell behind 17-4. They never recovered from the slow start and spent the rest of the game chasing the contest.
Susan Eben led all scorers with 21 points for Magic Stormers, while Joy Nekesa Mupalia recorded a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Daphine Adong added 14 points in a dominant team performance.
JKL continued to miss key players Flavia Oketcho and Ritah Imanishimwe, a factor that has affected their recent performances.
Tamasha Nsubuga scored 12 points, Shadiah Nassanga added 11, and Shiphra Kiranda chipped in with 10, but their efforts were not enough to prevent the defending champions from suffering another defeat.
The Lady Dolphins struggled on the boards, losing the rebounding battle 59-44, and committed 23 turnovers.
The loss was JKL’s third straight, having previously fallen to JT Lady Jaguars and KCCA Leopards. They now sit eighth on the table with a 10-7 record after 19 games.
For Magic Stormers, the victory was their 11th of the season and strengthened their hold on fourth place in the 12-team standings.
