KCCA FC lost more ground in the Uganda Premier League title race after suffering a 1-0 defeat to relegation-threatened Calvary on Friday at Midigo Playground in Yumbe.

Lawrence Olaboro scored the decisive goal on the hour mark, heading home from Milton Afema’s cross.

KCCA will regret several missed chances earlier in the game. Ivan Ahimbisibwe was denied by the woodwork, Brian Jjara saw his effort blocked, while Saidi Mayanja’s header was kept out by goalkeeper Hadji Shukuru.

It was KCCA’s sixth defeat of the season, leaving them four points behind leaders Vipers SC, who still have to face Entebbe UPPC on Sunday.

The result piles more pressure on co-coaches Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera as the team edges closer to another trophyless campaign.

Bottom-placed Calvary are now unbeaten in their last four matches since a 1-0 loss to Vipers. They followed that defeat with a 2-0 win over Buhimba and goalless draws against Lugazi and Kitara before Friday’s victory.
