KCCA Leopards secured third place in the Women’s National Basketball League after defeating Magic Stormers 85-57 in the one-off bronze medal playoff at Lugogo on Wednesday.
The victory offered consolation for the Leopards, who were eliminated by UCU Lady Canons in the semifinals.
KCCA took control from the start, winning the opening quarter 25-10 before extending their advantage to 53-32 at halftime. They maintained their dominance throughout the second half to comfortably seal the win.
Ninette Uwineza was instrumental, posting a double-double of 10 rebounds and 11 assists, while five KCCA players scored in double figures.
Tracy Namugosa led the Leopards with 14 points, followed by Asinah Kabendela with 13, Margaret Baagala and Lilian Cherotich with 12 each, and Susan Rebecca Aanyu with 11.
Magic Stormers, who had also lost to JT Lady Jaguars in the semifinals, were led by Moreen Amoding with 15 points and Daphine Adong with 14.
KCCA struggled from long range, making just one of 13 three-point attempts, while also committing 29 turnovers. However, the Stormers failed to take advantage as the Leopards remained in control from the opening tip to the final buzzer.
