Kitara FC have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Jeromy Kirya on a two-year contract, adding further creativity to their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.

Kirya joins the Royals as a free agent after the expiry of his contract at BUL FC and has signed a deal that will keep him at the Hoima-based club until June 2028.

He becomes Kitara’s second attacking signing of the transfer window following the arrival of Martin Kizza.

Kirya attracted interest from several Uganda Premier League clubs before opting to join Kitara.

Speaking after completing the move, Kirya said he was excited to begin a new chapter after spending several years in Jinja.

“It’s a new team and place for me after being in Jinja for quite some time, but I’m steadily settling in well. Let’s hope for the best experience,” Kirya told the club’s media.

“There are many good players in the team and I definitely expect the competition to be high, but I believe I have what it takes to succeed here.”

Kirya leaves BUL after five seasons, during which he made 116 appearances, scored 15 goals and registered nine assists.

Before joining BUL in 2021, he spent three seasons at Kirinya-Jinja SS, having begun his football journey at Jinja Secondary School.

Capable of operating as an attacking midfielder or in a deeper central midfield role, Kirya is known for his work rate, consistency and ability to score from long range.

At Kitara, he will compete for a place in midfield alongside Frank Zaga Tumwesigye, Gaddafi Wahab and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa as the Royals continue to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign.

Kirya’s arrival follows the recent signing of Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa as Kitara continue an active recruitment drive ahead of the new season.
