The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has named 19 match officials to officiate at the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup in Kigali, Rwanda.
The regional club championship will run from July 24 to August 7 and will feature 12 teams from across the CECAFA region.
Uganda will be represented by referee Dick Okello and assistant referee Ronald Katenya, who are among the nine referees and 10 assistant referees appointed for the tournament.
“We have selected match officials from different countries. They started preparing as a group in Kigali on Tuesday and hope to deliver a good tournament,” said CECAFA Head of Refereeing Ali Ahmed.
Ahmed added that CECAFA continues to invest in developing referees as the region prepares to co-host the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be staged by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The Kagame Cup gets underway on Friday with Uganda’s Vipers SC taking on Djibouti’s Garde Republicaine FC, while hosts APR FC face Kenya’s Gor Mahia FC in the other Group A fixture.
