JT Lady Jaguars will hope to keep their National Basketball League title hopes alive when they face UCU Lady Canons in Game Four of the Finals on Friday at Lugogo.
The Jaguars trail 3-0 in the best-of-seven series, meaning a defeat would hand UCU Lady Canons the title.
Coached by Sudi Ulanga, the Jaguars entered the playoffs brimming with confidence after topping the regular-season standings. They were also favourites against UCU in the Finals, having beaten the Canons twice during the regular season.
However, fine margins have decided the series so far, with Wednesday’s 68-63 defeat leaving the Jaguars on the brink of elimination.
Brenda Kayaga led the Jaguars with a game-high 22 points, while Sandra Ayikoru and Aziida Nabayunga added 10 points apiece.
But the Jaguars again struggled to contain Matrina Anyango, who posted a double-double of 17 points and 21 rebounds in Game Three.
The Jaguars were outrebounded 64-43 and shot just 12-for-36 from three-point range in Wednesday’s defeat, leaving their hopes of winning a maiden top-flight title hanging by a thread.
With their backs against the wall, the Jaguars must now win four straight games to overturn the deficit and claim the championship.
