Police FC Stunned by Blacks Power as Lule Blames Players

Wednesday, September 2
•Blacks Power 1-0 Police
•Ntugasaze 1-3 Maroons

Police FC coach Matia Lule has blamed his players for failing to take Blacks Power seriously after Tuesday’s defeat.

Emmanuel Janan Oketch scored the only goal as newcomers Blacks Power stunned Police FC 1-0 at the new Hoima City Stadium.

Police came into the game on the back of a 1-0 victory over Mbarara City on matchday one but failed to replicate that performance against Blacks Power.

“We lost the game because the players failed to use their chances. We got the best chance of the game around the fifth minute, but we failed to take it,” Lule said.

“The players showed laziness, and the opponent got one chance which they used.

“It’s disappointing to lose three points early in the season, but the good thing is that there is still plenty of time. We will catch up.

“We have to work hard to fulfil our target of being title contenders this season.”

The defeat leaves Police with three points from their opening two matches, while Blacks Power have made a perfect start to life in the Uganda Premier League.

Blacks Power have won both of their games, having beaten Ntugasaze 1-0 in their opener, with Andrea Noll Ogwal scoring the decisive goal.

Police will host UPDF on September 10 at Kamwokya, while Blacks Power visit Maroons at Wankulukuku on September 9.
