UCU Lady Canons Vs KCCA Leopards Postponed

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has postponed the Women’s National Basketball League fixture between UCU Lady Canons and KCCA Leopards.

The two sides were scheduled to face off on Friday evening at the YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

The postponement follows UCU’s successful campaign at the African University Sports (FASU) Afro Varsity 3×3 Basketball Championship held in Ibadan, Nigeria.

UCU’s 3×3 team defeated Kenya’s United States International University (USIU-Africa) 21-15 in the final to lift the title.

The championship-winning team comprised Martina Anyango, Shillah Lamunu, Sylvia Nakituuka, and Zoe Atek.

After finishing the tournament unbeaten, UCU also secured qualification for the 2026 FISU University 3×3 World Cup, which will be held in October in Macau, China.

Back in the domestic league, the Lady Canons are second on the 12-team standings, having registered 14 wins and just two losses this season.

Coached by Nicholas Natuhereza, UCU defeated KCCA Leopards 51-34 in their first-round meeting in February.

Meanwhile, KCCA head into the postponed fixture on the back of a 48-44 defeat to UPDF Lady Tomahawks on Wednesday at Rezlife Court in Lubowa.

With the women’s game postponed, the men’s National Basketball League fixture between City Oilers and Sommet will now tip off at 8:00 p.m.
