UPL set to reward excellence at end of season awards

The brief:

  • Uganda Premier League Awards set for today at Kati Kati.
  • Mangoli also shortlisted for Young Player of the Season.
  • Golden Boot, Golden Glove and other awards will also be presented.

The Uganda Premier League will reward excellence on Friday, a week after the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

The 2025/26 UPL Awards will be held at Kati Kati, where the best performers of the season will be recognised.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award headlines the accolades, with six nominees including SC Villa duo Frank Ssebuufu and Raymond Mangoli.

Karim Watambala, who helped Vipers SC defend the league title, league top scorer Ivan Ahimbisibwe, and Entebbe UPPC forward Ambrose Kigozi are the other nominees.

Mangoli is also nominated for the Young Player of the Season award alongside Enrique Lubwama (UPDF), Richard Okello (BUL), and Hakim Wandera (NEC).

Five coaches have been nominated for the Coach of the Season award: Ivan Minnaert (SC Villa), Badru Kaddu (NEC), Abdallah Mubiru (Entebbe UPPC), Zeljko Kovacevic (SC Villa), among others.

The UPL Secretariat confirmed that this year’s awards will be determined through a comprehensive selection process combining technical analysis, performance data, football observation, stakeholder engagement, and controlled public interaction to ensure credibility and fairness in the final outcome.

The voting process includes contributions from a technical panel, league statistics and data, selected football stakeholders, media input, and limited weighted fan engagement.

Fans have already cast their votes in selected categories.

Other honours, including the Golden Boot Award, Golden Glove Award, Fair Play Team Award, and Platinum Award, will also recognise excellence and contribution to Ugandan football during the 2025/26 season.
