URA FC fought from a goal down to beat hosts Maroons 2-1 in their Uganda Premier League opener at Wankulukuku on Sunday.
The Tax Collectors fell behind in the first half when Darius Ojok put Maroons ahead, but second-half goals from Dissan Galiwango and Abraham Tusubira turned the game around and secured a hard-fought victory.
Maroons took the lead in the 35th minute after Eturude picked out Ojok on the left. The forward embarked on a brilliant solo run before squeezing his effort past the URA goalkeeper.
URA improved after the break and eventually found the equaliser in the 80th minute.
Galiwango followed up to score from a rebound after his first attempt was blocked by Derrick Basoga, following a Moses Waisswa delivery into the area.
URA then completed the comeback in added time after the referee pointed to the spot when Nelson Ssenkatuka was brought down in the box by Edward Kabona.
Tusubira, facing his former side, made no mistake from 12 yards, sending Maroons goalkeeper Amir Nalugoda the wrong way to seal all three points for the Tax Collectors.
It was a perfect start for coach Jimmy Kintu Mweru and his URA side, who will hope this season marks a turnaround in fortunes after years of underachievement since winning their fourth league title in the 2010/11 campaign.
URA will look to maintain their perfect start when they host SC Villa at Nakivubo on Friday, while Maroons travel to face Ntugasaze at Kira Road Playground in Kamwokya on Wednesday.
