•URA FC 0-2 SC Villa
SC Villa took a significant step toward the Uganda Cup final with a 2-0 first-leg victory over URA FC in their semifinal clash played Monday night at Nakivubo.
Najib Yiga opened the scoring before halftime, while Moses Aliro’s late own goal handed the Jogoos a comfortable advantage.
The breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Hassan Mubiru beat his marker and set up Yiga, who bundled the ball home with his left foot from close range.
Villa doubled their lead in added time after Andrew Otim applied pressure on Aliro, whose attempted back pass to an advancing goalkeeper, Crispus Kusiima, ended up in the back of the net.
The two sides will meet again in the return leg on Saturday, May 16, at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, with a place in the final at stake.
SC Villa smell opportunity

SC Villa will feel they have done enough to put themselves firmly in control of the tie.
However, URA FC will still believe they can turn things around, having previously come from two goals down to eliminate KCCA in the quarterfinals.
This presents a different challenge, though, as scoring more than once will be a tough task for URA, especially at Kadiba, where they suffered a 3-0 league defeat earlier this season.
Before conceding, the Tax Collectors had a chance through Joseph Ssemujju, who beat David Owori but failed to hit the target from a tight angle.
Their best opportunity came in the 67th minute, when Villa goalkeeper David Lukwago produced a fine low save to deny Dissan Galiwango’s free kick.
As URA pushed forward late on, miscommunication between Aliro and Kusiima proved costly, leading to the decisive second goal.
Hussein Mbalangu and his side now face a difficult task, while Villa will sense that an elusive 10th Uganda Cup title is within reach.
In the other semifinal, Vipers will host Kitara in the return leg on May 15 at Kitende after the first leg ended goalless in Hoima.
