Kitara FC has written to FUFA requesting a change of venue for the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup final against SC Villa.
This comes hours after FUFA confirmed that the 2026 Uganda Cup final will be played on Saturday, May 30, at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
Kitara FC Chief Executive Officer Joshua Atugonza, in a letter addressed to the FUFA Competitions Director, expressed concern over the decision to stage the final at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, arguing that the venue gives SC Villa an unfair advantage since it currently serves as the club’s home ground.
The Hoima-based club acknowledged receiving FUFA’s circular confirming Kadiba as the host venue for the final but appealed for reconsideration “in the interest of fairness, neutrality, and sporting integrity.”
Kitara cited Article 22 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup regulations, which grants FUFA the mandate to determine the final venue, but insisted that neutrality should remain a key principle in selecting the host stadium for such a major fixture.
“FUFA Stadium, Kadiba is currently the home ground of SC Villa, which gives our opponents an inherent sporting advantage in terms of familiarity, supporter access, and match environment,” part of the letter reads.
The club further argued that it would have been more understandable if the final venue had been declared at the beginning of the competition before the identities of the finalists were known.
According to Kitara, naming Kadiba after SC Villa had already qualified creates “a perception of unfairness” and undermines the neutrality expected in a cup final.
Kitara has now urged FUFA to designate what it described as a neutral venue that guarantees equal sporting conditions for both finalists and preserves the credibility of the competition.
