The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has reversed its earlier decision on the venue for the Uganda Cup final.
FUFA had initially announced Kadiba Stadium as the host venue for the final between SC Villa and Kitara, scheduled for Saturday, May 30.
However, Kitara petitioned the decision, arguing that it gave SC Villa an unfair home advantage since the record league champions use Kadiba as their home ground.
Kitara cited Article 22 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup regulations, which grants FUFA the mandate to determine the final venue, but emphasized that neutrality should remain a key consideration when selecting a host stadium for such a major fixture.
Following the complaint, FUFA confirmed in a letter to both clubs that the final will now be played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
The date and kickoff time remain unchanged, with the match set for Saturday, May 30 at 4:00pm.
“The decision has been taken in the interest of fair play and to ensure a neutral match environment for both finalists,” said FUFA Competitions Director Shawn Mubiru.
“All other arrangements communicated in the match organisation circular remain unchanged. We appreciate your cooperation and wish both clubs the very best in preparation for the final,” he added.
SC Villa booked their place in the final after beating URA FC 3-0 on aggregate, including a 1-0 victory at Kadiba in the return leg courtesy of James Begisa’s own goal.
Kitara advanced on the away goals rule after playing out a 1-1 aggregate draw against defending champions Vipers SC.
