UCU Lady Canons completed a season double over Magic Stormers with a 57-42 victory in the National Basketball League on Friday night at Lugogo.
The Lady Canons started slowly and trailed 12-10 after the opening quarter but recovered to level the game at 25-all by halftime.
UCU maintained the momentum in the second half, winning the third quarter 19-12 to open a seven-point lead before sealing the game with a dominant 13-5 fourth-quarter display.
Martrina Anyango posted a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Mariam Namukwaya added 13 points as UCU cruised to victory.
Daphine Adong scored 17 points for Magic Stormers, while Joy Nekesa Mupalia registered a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.
Despite their bright start, Magic Stormers were second best for most of the contest. They were outrebounded 57-41, shot just 2-for-24 from three-point range, and managed only six bench points.
UCU, who also beat the Stormers 55-48 in their first-round meeting in February, improved to 14-2 for the season.
The loss was Magic Stormers’ ninth in 17 games, leaving them with an 8-9 record.
