The FUFA Women Super League will adopt a new 4:00pm kick-off time for all matches starting with the 2026/27 season following consultations between FUFA and its member clubs.
The decision was announced during the FUFA Women Leagues 2026/27 Pre-Season Workshop and 2025/26 Season Review held on Wednesday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
FUFA Competitions Director Shawn Mubiru said the adjustment was made after clubs requested a change from the previous 10:00am kick-off.
“We have been getting a number of requests from clubs for the change of match day kick-off times. This is confirmed and all matches will kick off at 4pm across the country,” Mubiru said.
The later start time is expected to improve matchday operations while creating a better playing and viewing environment for players and supporters.
Mubiru also revealed that FUFA will continue engaging clubs affiliated to men’s teams to share match venues as part of efforts to reduce operational costs in women’s football.
“For women clubs that are partnering with male clubs, we will again engage them to see that they share the match day venues with these partners. That is something that is a no-brainer, but we think it is something that the male clubs can help the women clubs with and uplift them. These are some of the costs that the women clubs face,” he said.
The workshop, chaired by FUFA Club Licensing Committee chairperson Jeremiah Mugerwa, brought together chief executive officers from the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League and the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League to review the 2025/26 season and prepare for the new campaign.
Mubiru described the meeting as a productive engagement that allowed FUFA and clubs to discuss key issues affecting women’s football and identify areas for improvement ahead of the new season.
The annual pre-season workshop serves as a platform for FUFA and its member clubs to review the previous campaign, address operational challenges and agree on measures to strengthen the organisation of the country’s top two women’s leagues.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies were crowned champions of the 2025/26 season with 52 points, edging She Corporate, who finished second with 51 points. It was Kawempe’s sixth women’s league title and their second since the competition was rebranded as the FUFA Women Super League in 2019.
