Pressure is mounting on KCCA FC head coach Brian Ssenyondo as the Cityzens host Kataka FC in the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday at Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
KCCA have collected just one point from their opening three matches, leaving Ssenyondo under early pressure to deliver a first victory of the campaign.
The Cityzens were held to a goalless draw by Kigezi HomeBoyz in Kamwenge in their previous outing, their first point of the season.
They got their campaign off to worst possible start, losing at home against NEC before another 2-0 defeat against Express at Nakivubo.
Ssenyondo will now be looking for a more clinical performance when KCCA face newly promoted Kataka at 4:00pm.
Kataka have also managed just one point from their opening two matches, drawing 0-0 with UPDF before suffering a 4-1 home defeat to BUL.
Their match against Vipers was postponed due to the Venoms’ engagement in CAF Champions League.
KCCA have received a boost with midfielder Ibrahim Kasule returning to the squad after missing the trip to Kigezi on compassionate leave.
Forward Emmanuel Anyama is also available after recovering from a pre-season injury and is in line for his first matchday squad appearance of the season.
However, Gabonese midfielder Axel Mezui is ruled out after picking up a knock in training, while academy players Derrick Ssozi and Jjemba Ukasha are away on U20 and U17 national team duty respectively.
KCCA also head into the game with a strong record against Kataka, having won two and drawn one of their last three competitive meetings.
The Cityzens won the first two encounters 3-0 before the teams played out a 1-1 draw in their most recent meeting in the Uganda Cup in May 2025.
