SC Villa continued their impressive start to the Uganda Premier League season with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Kigezi Homeboyz at Wankulukuku on Tuesday.
Goals from Patrick Jonah Kakande, Aslam Ssemakula and Andrew Otim secured a third consecutive win for the Jogoos.
Kakande opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Kigezi goalkeeper and former Villa player Norman Angufidru brought him down inside the area after coming off his line.
Ssemakula doubled Villa’s advantage in the 17th minute. John Assimwe picked him out inside the box, and after beating his marker, he volleyed the ball into the net.
Otim, who also scored against Express, completed the scoring in the 80th minute, shortly after coming off the bench. The forward headed home from a well-delivered corner by new signing Brian Mato, who was making his Villa debut.
Kigezi Homeboyz offered little threat in attack throughout the game as Villa comfortably controlled proceedings.
The defeat leaves Kigezi with just one point from three matches, having previously lost to Lugazi before drawing 0-0 with KCCA. Their fixture against reigning champions Vipers was postponed.
Villa, meanwhile, have now collected 10 points from four matches. After opening their campaign with a draw against Kitara, the Jogoos have beaten URA, Express and Kigezi in succession.
The result lifts Villa to third place on 10 points, level with second-placed NEC, while Kigezi Homeboyz remain fourth from bottom.
