JKL Lady Dolphins sealed a place in the National Basketball League playoffs with a victory over Nabisunsa in their penultimate game of the regular season on Wednesday.

The defending champions were boosted by the return of Brenda Ekon, who had missed the entire second round after being attacked by thugs.

Ekon who had last played in March, contributed 11 points, while Tamasha Nsubuga and Shadiah Nassanga added 24 and 13 points respectively as JKL cruised to victory.

For Nabisunsa, Keturah Joy Auma scored a game-high 22 points, while Martha Yikiru registered a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, but their efforts were not enough to prevent defeat. Nabisunsa had already been relegated before the game.

With a couple of key players back in the lineup, JKL received a significant boost from their bench, which contributed 31 points. However, they were outrebounded 58-51, missed 12 of their 14 three-point attempts, and committed 20 turnovers.

The win was JKL’s 11th of the season and keeps them on course for an eighth-place finish. They will conclude their regular-season campaign against UCU Lady Canons on Friday.

Should they finish eighth as expected, JKL will face top-seeded JT Lady Jaguars in the best-of-three quarterfinal playoff series.
