Paul Odong delivered a record-breaking performance as Namuwongo Blazers thrashed Kampala Rockets 110-64 in a National Basketball League game played on Wednesday night at ABJA Park in Naalya.

Nicknamed McGayver, Odong poured in 53 points — the highest individual scoring tally recorded this season and one of the greatest scoring displays in recent memory across both the men’s and women’s top-flight divisions.

His 18 three-pointers, made from 44 attempts, also set a new National Basketball League record.

The guard completed a double-double with 14 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes of the contest.

Kasereka Tembo and Kevin Nyemeck added 15 and 12 points respectively as the Blazers secured their 19th victory in 21 games.

Namuwongo will conclude their regular-season campaign against UCU Canons on Friday, needing a win to leapfrog City Oilers and finish top of the standings.

Already relegated, Kampala Rockets showed early resistance and trailed by just one point (24-23) after the opening quarter. However, they ran out of steam as the Blazers took control and cruised to a 46-point victory.

Francis ‘Odom’ Kasinde registered 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Gideon Kasasa added 17 points, but their efforts were not enough as the Rockets ended the season with a 2-20 record.
