KCCA Leopards edged Magic Stormers 65-60 in the National Basketball League on Wednesday at the YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

The Leopards were forced to play catch-up after trailing 22-21 at the end of a high-octane first quarter.

However, they responded strongly in the second period, winning it 21-14 to take a six-point lead into halftime.

Magic Stormers bounced back to claim the low-scoring third quarter 9-7, trimming the deficit to four points heading into the final period.

But KCCA opened the fourth quarter with a decisive 10-0 run to stretch the lead to 14 points, a margin that proved crucial for Tonny Drilleba’s side.

Tracy Namugosa starred with a game-high 28 points, while Margaret Baagala recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds, in addition to seven assists. Sherinah Mwenyango added 13 points in the victory.

For the Stormers, Daphine Adong scored 16 points, while Joy Nekesa Mupalia and Barbra added 13 and 10 points respectively in defeat.

KCCA dominated the boards 55-47 despite committing 26 turnovers.

The victory comes as a much-needed relief for the Leopards, who entered the game on the back of a walkover defeat to Miracle Ravens.

Meanwhile, the loss ended Magic Stormers’ two-game winning streak after recent victories over Angels and JT Lady Jaguars.
