Namuwongo Blazers cruised to a comfortable 66-46 victory over Uganda Martyrs Flames in the National Basketball League on Saturday night at ABJA Park, Naalya.

After a closely contested first quarter which they Blazers edged 16-15, UMU were limited to just nine points in the second quarter to trail by 11 points at halftime.

The University side put up a strong contest in the third quarter which was tied 11-11 but ran out of steam the crucial last quarter which they Blazers won 20-11 to seal a comfortable victory.

Peter Obleng led the scoring with 18 points, while Innocent Ochera and Arthur Wanyoto contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.

Gatwech Koang put up 15 points for the Flames, but it wasn’t enough to prevent their 10th loss of the season.

The Flames missed 26 of their 29 three-point attempts and were out-rebounded 45-59, and the loss looked inevitable.

The result marks a second straight win in the second round for the Blazers, having earlier beaten KCCA Panthers 79-55.

The Blazers also extend their impressive unbeaten run to 12 games this season since falling to City Oilers in the season opener and will face JKL Dolphins next on May 9.
