Ntugasaze FC have officially secured promotion to the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League after edging Bunyaruguru United 2-1 in a FUFA Big League match played on Sunday at Kavumba Recreation Ground.
James Jarieko scored both goals for Ntugasaze to seal a maiden move to the top flight with one game left to play this season.
Ntugasaze join Blacks Power and Kigezi Homeboyz, who had already confirmed promotion earlier, in a campaign where the top four teams earn promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
The victory lifted Ntugasaze to third place on 50 points, three ahead of fifth-placed Paidha Black Angels. Although Paidha can still level on points, Ntugasaze hold the superior head-to-head record, which serves as the tie-breaker in the FUFA Big League.
The two sides drew 1-1 in Zombo during the first round before Ntugasaze beat Paidha 3-1 at Kavumba in March.
Coached by David Bbale alongside Isa Serwanja and Chancely Morgan, Ntugasaze have enjoyed an impressive campaign, winning 13 matches, drawing 11 and losing only five.
The Mityana-based side has also endured a challenging season regarding home venues. They started the campaign at Ssaza Grounds in Mityana before shifting to Kira Road in Kamwokya and later settling at Kavumba Recreation Ground.
Ntugasaze will now hope to host Uganda Premier League matches back in Mityana next season.
Meanwhile, the battle for the final promotion slot remains open between Kataka and Paidha Black Angels. Kataka currently occupy fourth place with 48 points, just one ahead of Paidha heading into the final round of fixtures.
