SC Villa were denied victory by Maroons after a late Marvin Oshaba strike earned the prison side a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the FUFA Super 8 quarterfinal at Lugogo on Saturday.

The Jogoos took the lead after Maroons surrendered possession in their own half.

Frank Ssebuufu slipped Aslam Ssemakula through on goal, and the forward calmly lifted a cheeky left-footed finish over the goalkeeper.

SC Villa dominated for long spells but failed to add to their advantage despite creating several chances.

Maroons struck back in the 90th minute when substitute Ronald Orombi released Marvin Oshaba, who rifled a superb finish into the top corner to level the contest.

SC Villa almost snatched a dramatic winner in stoppage time, but Daniel Onyango opted to shoot instead of squaring the ball to the unmarked Isaac Gumperom, and the chance went begging.

The result leaves the tie finely balanced ahead of the return leg at Nakivubo on Friday.
