Synergy FC has been sanctioned and two fans given three-year bans following ugly incidents in a FUFA Buganda Regional League match!
Crowd trouble, highlighted by assistant referee Okello Yokoyasi being beaten, halted a Buganda Regional League match between hosts Synergy FC and Simba FC on March 28, 2026, at Ndeeba Kayunga Ground.
The Buganda Region Football Association Disciplinary Panel has ruled that Synergy FC were responsible for the hooliganism that caused the abandonment of the match.
The match had reached the 81st minute with the score tied at 2-2 when the referee called it off after fans invaded the field following an attack on assistant referee Okello.

According to match officials’ reports, two identified home fans, Mbaliire Khalid and Kawooya, assaulted the assistant referee, triggering further chaos and pitch invasion by spectators.
The panel found that no safety and security officers had been provided for the match and ruled that the two individuals were supporters of the home team, Synergy FC.

In addition, Mbaliire Khalid and Kawooya have been declared persona non grata for FUFA competitions for three years and will bear liabilities in accordance with the National Sports Act 2023.

Synergy FC must also register two licensed FUFA safety and security officers to lead its stewards’ team.
