Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have signed defender Nicholas Mwere on a two-year contract following the expiry of his deal with BUL FC.
The Left back joins the Venoms on a free transfer as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Mwere, who can also play at Centre-back, spent the last three seasons at BUL FC, making 69 league appearances.
Before his move to BUL, he featured for Busoga United.
His performances during the 2023/24 campaign earned him a place in the Uganda Premier League Team of the Season.

He has also represented the Uganda Cranes at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and previously played for Uganda’s national beach soccer team, the Sand Cranes.
Vipers head coach Denis Lavagne said Mwere’s versatility and consistency will strengthen the squad.
“Nicholas is a defender with great discipline, versatility and consistency. He can perform in different positions across the backline, which is extremely valuable over the course of a long season,” Lavagne said.
Mwere said joining Vipers is a major step in his career.
“Joining Vipers SC is a proud moment in my career. This is a club with a winning culture, great ambitions and incredible supporters. I am ready to work hard and help the club achieve its objectives,” he said.
He is the third new addition at Vipers after Joel Sserunjogi and Jacques Mangoba as the club prepares for a long season where they will compete in the Uganda Premier League, Stanbic Uganda Cup, CECAFA Kagame Cup and CAF Champions League.
