Buganda Regional League champions Buwambo United has confirmed a change of venue for their decisive FUFA Big League promotion playoff second-leg match against Black Stars FC scheduled for Saturday.
The fixture, which had initially been set to take place at Mwererwe Playground in Matugga, will now be played at YMCA Grounds in Buwambo.
In a statement released by the club, Buwambo United cited several reasons behind the venue switch.
“The change of venue from Mwererwe Playground, Matugga to YMCA Grounds, Buwambo has been necessitated by fixture congestion at Mwererwe Playground, which is currently hosting a U17 Schools Tournament, creating significant ground congestion that renders it unsuitable for our playoff fixture,” the statement read.
The club also pointed to logistical challenges at the former venue, saying they could negatively affect the team’s pre-match preparations at such a crucial stage of the season.

Additionally, Buwambo United emphasized the importance of playing closer to home.
“YMCA Grounds, Buwambo is situated within our home community, offering a familiar and supportive environment for the team and our fans,” the statement added.
The playoff tie remains finely balanced after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw at Wankulukuku Stadium last Saturday. Black Stars FC took the lead through Benon Lutaaya before Innocent Ongurucho Mensor struck the equaliser for Buwambo United.
The winner on aggregate after Saturday’s second leg will secure promotion to the FUFA Big League for the 2026/27 season.
