Vipers SC will today be crowned Uganda Premier League champions when they face Express FC in the final match of the 2025/26 season.

The Venoms sealed the title in the penultimate round with a commanding 3-0 victory over Maroons FC at Wankulukuku.

Yunus Sentamu gave Vipers the perfect start with a goal in the second minute before Usama Arafat and Karim Watambala added a goal each to complete a deserved win.

Vipers needed nothing less than victory to confirm the championship, and they delivered on a day when closest challengers KCCA FC were held to a goalless draw by URA FC at Nakivubo.

The result moved Ivan Minnaert’s Vipers to 64 points, five ahead of KCCA FC, making it impossible for them to be caught heading into today’s final fixtures.

The league triumph marks a successful title defence for the Venoms, despite their Uganda Cup semi-final exit to Kitara FC on the away goals rule.

Vipers SC President Dr Lawrence Mulindwa promised the players a staggering Sh300m if they win the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League title!

The players earlier received Sh50m just for finishing top of the first round.

Last season, Mulindwa handed the team Sh200m after they lifted the title in a league where the official prize money for winning the Uganda Premier League is Sh60m.

A stage has been installed at the stadium where the celebrations will be held until late.

Vipers have now won eight Uganda Premier League titles, moving one ahead of Express FC, who have seven. SC Villa remain the competition’s most successful club with 17 league crowns, while KCCA FC have won 13 titles.

All games today will kickoff at 3pm as it’s the norm.

Buhimba United Saints lost to URA 3-0 on Friday, with the game played earlier as the hosts use the same venue with Kitara who host Police on the same matchday.

Buhimba and Calvary are the two relegated sides, with four teams to be promoted from the FUFA Big League this campaign.

There is also a small matter of the golden boot sill to be sorted, Ivan Ahimbisibwe leads the race with 13, followed by Ambrose Kigozi (Entebbe UPPC) on 12, Karim Watambala (Vipers) on 11 while Usama Arafat (Vipers) on 10.
